Sweets & Treats – Troodos Mountain Villages Food Tour

Enjoy a culinary day trip that is all about satisfying your sweet tooth with a lavish brunch along the way. The trip involves visiting a local honey-making family, a visit to the Troodos mountain villages, and a visit to an to visit an old wine (Commandaria) press located within a historical monastery. You will then continue to enjoy a luxurious homemade brunch and finish your trip in the village of Yeroskipou where you will discover the local traditional sweets with a tour and tasting at a small workshop making Cyprus delights!

Commandaria Crusade – Chocolate Workshop & Wine Tasting Experience

On this tour you will be driven into the Troodos mountain villages to learn all about the celebrated Cyprus Commandaria wine which was made famous by Richard the Lionheart and his fellow crusaders. This wine is in the Guinness World Book of Records for having the oldest ‘Appelation d’origine’ and for being the oldest manufactured wine in the world. Learn all about the 5500-year-old wine history of the island with a visit to Omodos village where you will enjoy a full wine tasting and a tour of the quaint streets. The experience then continues with a traditional meze lunch at a local taverna. After lunch you will be taken to a boutique chocolatier where we’ll take part in a chocolate making workshop to create delicious Commandaria truffles and experience the fantastic combination of this sweet wine with cocoa.

Authentic Cyprus Organised Day Trip

You will begin your day with a stop at a pottery workshop in Yeroskipou village, where you will see how the potters continue the ancient traditional craft and if you are lucky you might even try your hand at the wheel. The next stop is at the village square where we will see the unique 5 domed church of St Paraskevi, built in the 9th century reputedly on the site where the ancient temple of Aphrodite previously stood. Here you will have a chance to see how the ‘loukoumia’ (Turkish delights) are made and wander around the square with its local produce shops. From there you will go to a small village Letymbou, where you will visit Sophias traditional house and see rooms with the original furniture and decor as well as traditional costumes. Last but not least, you will have a special Cypriot breakfast, prepared by Sophia with village style bread and coffee or tea.
